Adam Lambert's debut appearance

The runner up in the eighth season of American Idol, Adam Lambert peforms at the AMA's. Adam did not hold back from delivering a provocative perfomance. Lambert performed his single "For your entertaiment."Lambert dragged a girl across the stage to begin his perfomance. throughout his time being on stage Lambert grabbed the head of one of his male dancers and pulled him into his gyrating crotch. Not only going that far, Lambert took a breathe from singing for a while to tongue down the keyboardist from his band. Do you think that is all? No, can't be. After Lambert performed he tweeted all his followers and said "All hail freedom of expression and artistic integrity.'' Wow isn't that crazy. I guess not after all he explained his reasoning for that eccentric performance. What is your opinion?

Rihanna finally speaks out

"It can happen to anyone" Rihanna says. Rihanna finally speaks out about the night when she was beat on by her boyfriend Chris Brown. Rihanna explains that night to be a horrible night. She was says she was not expecting it, but then again whoever expects to get beat on? Rihanna talks also says that the reason why she took so long to come to the public about this situation was because she was scared. She hated the fact that this happened to her and even more, because she had no privacy. Rihanna also states that after the everything was done with, Rihanna took Chris Brown back. But then she realized the impact that she has on the younger generation. I am glad to see that she has come to her senses, rather than just acting off of love. Rihanna has proved herself to be a strong black woman, and she has inspired me a greta deal.

Gucci Mane....No show!

All this fuss and controversy over the rap star Gucci Mane performing for A&T homecoming concert and he can't even show up because he can't leave the state GA. The SGA president of the University bought it administrations attention that Gucci Mane is affliated with gangs and violence. Many were angry and fired up at the thought of Gucci Mane not performing for homecoming especially because many bought their tckets on advance because Gucci was coming. Instead of dropping Gucci as the performer, A&T opted to take their name off the concert. A&T did not want leave a bad repuation of the University, especially becuase Alumnae were gonna attend the activites and may even the concert. October 31, 2009, Gucci Mane cancelled his appearance because he is on house arrest. He is ordered to stay in the state of GA. Why all this publicity for a man that can't even show up to his own show? I hope the fans will realize not to continue to support artist of this caliber because it is going to look bad in the fans case as well.

Update on Trey Songz

Trey Songz' Trey Day was a great album. Many people suggest that he is the upcoming R. Kelly iof our generation. Currently, in the music industry, it is very rare to see an artist that can really sing and that really has talent. However, with Trey Songz, after seeing him in concert I am convinced that he is the best singer of all times. Most of the time artist use auto tune to depict a voice that they are trying to convey, but as for Songz, he sounds the same as though he was not even in concert.
Drake and Trey Songz have been friends even before they both were in the music business. Now there are speculations of Trey and Drake making a joint album. In my opinion, that joint collaboration is going to be the best ever. Drake is also an uprising icon in the music industry. From his writing skills to his singing and rapping, the man can do it all! But look out for the collaboration album, it is scheduled to come out fall of next year. And if you do not have Trey Day, get it you will not regret it.

A&T may drop rapper from homecoming concert

Shortly after returning student came back from their summer vacation, many began the debate about the concert. Students attending A&T did not like that fact that the rapper was headlining the concert due to his gang affiliation with the Bloods. Chancellor Harold Martin said Wednesday that “N.C. A&T is considering replacing a gang-affiliated rapper, who is headlining the school’s homecoming event.” In Gucci Mane’s latest album entitled “Murder was the case” depicts violence and drug abuse. Martin said “the school doesn’t want to censor any artist, but gang activity and drug dealing aren’t the things that hould be showcased when welcoming alumni and celebrating the university.”
Julianne Malveaux, president of Bennett College for Women, says said her Bennett Belles joined students from UNCG and A&T to denounce gun violence earlier this year, when 22-year-old Dennis Hayle became the second A&T student killed in a shooting in the past year and a half.“We lose 2,500 African Americans aged 15 to 24 each year to this kind of violence,” Malveaux said. “And each time our hearts break because we know we’ve lost someone with great potential. So to invite Gucci Mane, a poster child for this kind of violence, to homecoming, I imagine it wouldn’t happen if there was a better conversation aboutthe event.”
Martin is glad to know that his students are protesting about the music but wishes that it was done earlier before contracts were signed. “I would like to see us getting back to a greater level of welcoming our alumni back to the institution, showing them where their school is going, showcasing their successes and celebrating this institution,” Martin said. “I believe we can do that and also have great entertainment that shares our values.”

Update on Lauryn Hill

When Lauryn Hill made her first appearance in Sister Act II, she captured many with her beautiful voice. I mean it was like no other. She latered joined a group known as the Fugeees and the world just consumed her music because it was speaking truth. Knowledge meaning real life lessons. I personally enjoy Lauryn Hill and her music and writings, in fact, she's my favorite female artist. But as she began to mature in the music industry, she was influenced by love that caused her to do things that weren't considered normal for her to do. Just like young artists that were deemed as great musicians in the industry such as Whitney Houston, Tina Turner and Ray Charles.
I really do not believe that Lauryn Hill is sprung out on drugs and cannot function. Many are critizing and may not understand the reason for what she is doing exactly. I believe that the way that she dresses is a new eccentric style that one has to acquire like a taste a certain food. Accept it for what it is. If Lauryn Hill decides to make another album and it is not inspirational in any aspect, then I may say my alter ego has changed!

Kanye West at the VMA's

So I was Watching the Video Music awards and Taylor Swift recieved the Best female video, and during her speech of gratitude Kanye snatches the microphone from Swift and says that Beyonce had the best video of all times. The audience was shock and in awe of what Kanye did. Kanye, this was not the BET awards. With that said regardless if one feels like Beyonce should have won the award or not, the option was left up for the fans to decide. Taylor Swift is so young and it was her first award and for it to happen like that, it is indeed sad. Kanye Please get it together!
Being a vital asset to the Hip Hop culture, Kanye West, has to realize that how he conducts himself has an importance to his career.

Larry King: Chris Brown

The Chris Brown and Rihanna case was a touchy topic to me, mainly because I value their presence in the music industry. So watching this first appearance of Brown on TV speaking on the issue was very important. I believe that Brown represented himself really well throughout the interview. He respected Rihanna enough to not go into detail about that night; he left the decision up to her whether she wants to share the story with the world or not.
At no point in this blog am I justifying Brown in his decision to repeatedly threaten and beat on Rihanna. In fact, I feel like the judge should have given Brown a more intense punishment. At the same time Brown lossed a great deal of endorsements.
After watching the interview on the Larry King show, I understand more about how Brown feels disappointed in himself in acting out of character. At the same time no one really knows what happened that night beisdes Rihanna and Brown. Rihanna also played an important role in this domestic relationship as well. So who is anyone to assume that Rihanna didn't wrongly in the situation?

Teens Centers All around the world...

Teen centers in America provide a safe, productive , working environment for pre-teen to young adults. From programs that require students and young adults with the fundamental skills such as: basketball, soccer, computer literacy etc. These programs encourages the individual to bring out skills, often times they never even knew they had. Working here at the Dimock Teen Center, I've learned a lot.
